Folk Dancing


Folk dance is a term used to describe a large number of dances, mostly of European origin.  

These were originally danced in about the 19th century, or earlier.  The performances was dominated by tradition, and danced by common people as well as aristocracy.

Korean Folk DancingFolk dancing is the traditional dance of a people within a specific culture. Folk dancing as a social activity, done mainly for the participant's pleasure & unites the members of the group.  New dancers learn by observing others.  Although Folk dancing is viewed as a social activity, there are professional and semi-professional folk dance groups, and folk dance competitions and examinations.

The movements used & the skills required are often complex, but are well within the grasp of the average person.
